Parent / Guardian On-Site Requirement

For all students under the age of 18, a parent or legal guardian must remain on site and water-ready for the duration of the lesson. Parents are asked to stay close to the lesson area, actively observing their student’s session.

All wetsuits must be put on by parents, it is required to help each parent understand how to help their child to put on the wetsuit but we forget sometimes because go surfers it seems like putting on their watch, it is not like putting on a watch, it is a difficult task and children who have special needs can have trouble putting on the protective wetsuit. A wetsuit may be brought home to continue learning a providing a safe way that the parent and child can change the wetsuit on and off with their swim wear comfortably underneath.

In certain situations, a parent or guardian may be asked to assist with communication, behavioral cues, or learning preferences to help the instructor provide the safest and most effective instruction possible. This collaboration supports clarity, safety, and a positive learning environment for the student. Parents must always remain in eyesight and ear shot of the lesson. Please refrain from using the snack bar or going to get lunch during the surf lesson, and situation can occur and we need to know you are close by.

This requirement allows Oceanside Surf School instructors to maintain focus on water safety while ensuring each child receives appropriate support and understanding during their lesson.
